She was also co-captain of the United States women's soccer team from 2018 through 2020 alongside Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. [8][9] Morgan was chosen by the Western New York Flash at the top of the list in the 2011 WPS Draft. She had completed her studies at Berkeley earlier. Morgan also played for California Golden Bears. Morgan made her professional debut there and was instrumental in winning the league championship. Morgan was 22 at the time, and was the youngest player in the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final game during the 2012 London Olympics. She was second in the United States with 20 goals and 21 assists in 2012, which made her the seventh-highest-scoring player in the country to achieve 20 goals in one year. She was then awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete Of The Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2019. Morgan was selected to the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
